Professional Interests

Cindy joined the Woods Lab in the fall of 2017. She recently completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology and is involved in numerous efforts investigating cognitive aging and memory as well as mental health wellness. As an undergraduate, she explored the efficacy of a virtual reality alternative to traditional physical therapy for older adults with chronic pain under Dr. Roger B. Fillingim’s mentorship. She has also gained clinical experience in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure response prevention (ERP) for those diagnosed with OCD and other related anxiety disorders in Dr. Joseph McNamara’s lab. Under Dr. Della Mosley’s tutelage, Cindy has explored the factors impacting mental health wellness within racial, ethnic, and sexual minority communities. She is currently working on a study investigating the barriers to mental health wellness amongst first-generation, Hispanic-American college students.

Within the Woods Lab, Cindy is working on the Phase III ACT trial investigating tDCS paired with cognitive training in healthy older adults. Cindy is interested in pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology to continue her work studying the stressors impacting mental health wellness amongst marginalized communities.
